Big tells a story of a boy whose wish to be big/older comes true. We all know what it’s like to wish for something like that without thinking of the consequences and about how much it can change. He just wanted to be taller, so he could get on rides and get the girl. He ends up in a body of a 30 year old (Tom Hanks <3) and has to wait a few months to able to go back home.
This is such a charming film, Tom Hanks plays a totally innocent kid. He had me convinced there was a 13 year old inside that body. He was sweet to everyone; he was always curious and asking questions. He has to go about getting a job and living as a normal adult would while. He gets a dream job, where he comments on, plays with and creates new toys.
He falls in love and falls deeper into the work world, but his best friend brings him back to reality. Josh has to choose between his new life, where he has a girlfriend and a dream job, and his old life, back home with his parents and peers.
To me this is another one of those “be grateful for what you have” films. I mean we’ve all been there wishing for time to speed up, to be older, to fast forward and then end up wishing to go back and relive all those precious moments.
