L.A. Confidential [10]

This is one of those “cops get away with whatever they want” movies, but this is the only one that I’ve actually liked. The cops in this film are either used or users, they’re so tied up in keeping their status up or making some quick cash that they forget why they became cops in the first place. You get an insight on some of a few of them, get an understanding of why they do why they do and why they are the way they are. This is a story of corruption in the LAPD, and about how some men get away with the stuff they do, and those that seek out truth and justice.
The film is shot in a film noir kind of feel, detective story with a few dark shots; but somehow manages to be really modern day. We start off with a Danny Devito voiceover, and slowly tie in to the main cops in the story, they’re all heroes in their own way. Officer Bud White has this knack to help out damsels in distress, he’s the muscle around there and even he wonders how big his brain is. Sergeant Jack Vincennes craves to have his picture taken, he’ll do anything to keep his celebrity status. Ed Exley is the new guy in, he starts off willing to do whatever is right and get to the bottom of whatever he can so that justice is served.
These guys don’t really care for one another, but they end up having to work together and find out things they never could think real. There’s someone killing off cops, someone selling drugs, someone ratting out everyone else; there’s always something new around the LA corners. Slowly but surely they catch on to what’s going on and save the streets of LA from a whole lot of trouble.
